About Us

 THE HOSPITAL

Our Hospital, where we provide full surgical and medical facilities onsite, as well as a convenient pathology service. The practice prides itself on having one of the most modern surgical units in NSW and our medical facilities include 2 intensive care fully airconditioned stables. Several well grassed day yards provide the best conditions for the recovery of sick and debilitated horses.

We have an extensive reproductive unit offering a broad range of reproductive work with facilities for chilled and frozen semen, and even embyro transfer. Our modern reproductive laboratory caters for all aspects of artificial breeding including the freezing and storage of stallion semen.

The practice is a referral centre for many other practices around the state and regularly performs surgery, medical support and reproductive services on behalf of these practices.

HORSES FOR COURSES

By focusing on veterinary treatment for horses, we are able to provide the highest level of professional veterinary attention to our patients with a wealth of experience and expertise to call upon. Our large 7 vet practice also allows for consultation and numerous opinions within the practice on difficult cases, leading to the best and most up to date treatment available for your animal. All members of staff have an active interest in different facets of the horse industry, giving the practice a wide scope of information for the requirements of the different equine disciplines.

WHY ALPACAS?

Due to a calling for professional veterinary services to the ever growing local alpaca industry, and the fact that some of our horse clients have ventured into alpacas, the practice has sought to diversify and cater for their needs. John Parbery has taken a special interest in the treatment of alpacas, and has made the effort to attend many educational courses throughout Australia to increase his knowledge in this field. We now feel that we are very well informed and up to date with all the most recent advances in alpaca veterinary medicine. John is actually the President-Elect of the Veterinary Camelid Group.

THE STAFF

Our staff consists of 7 veterinarians, all with a keen interest in horses, and a caring support staff of 3 vet nurses, 4 capable office staff and a qualified laboratory technician.

THE PRACTICE

The practice attends most cases in the field, with a relatively large radius to which we provide service from the clinic base at Clarendon. We are available for routine work Mon-Fri 8am-6pm. We do a limited amount of reproductive work and non-routine veterinary work Sat 8am-12pm. We also provide a 24 hour, 7 day a week emergency service to our clients.

For more comprehensive diagnostic procedures, or access to better facilities and equipment or even to just save the mileage charge we encourage our clients to bring their animals to the clinic on an appointment basis.

EQUIPMENT

We have a range of up to date veterinary equipment, including ultrasound scanners, x-ray machines, laryngoscopes, and an ECG machine. This equipment is all portable, allowing us to perform most procedures at your property, given adequate facilities. However we strongly recommend that extensive pre-purchase or pre-sale x-rays be taken at the clinic to obtain the best possible results.
