It is with the
deepest regret and sadness, Hawkesbury Equine Veterinary Centre would
like to inform all of our clients of the death of Ben Cunneen.
Ben has recently
been working in Redlands Referral Veterinary Clinic in south east
Queensland which had an outbreak of Hendra virus (a lethal viral
zoonosis carried by fruitbats). Ben contracted the disease while
treating an affected horse, the virus became isolated in his brain
with devastating consequences. He has been in intensive care for the
past few weeks and died peacefully on the 20th of August 2008.
For all of you who
knew Ben, he was a delightful, fun loving wonderful young man. We at
HEVC thoroughly enjoyed working with him and we all loved him
dearly. Our love and condolences are offered to his wife Gill and
his family.
