James Hannon

James joined HEVC in 2016 after returning to live in the area from the Hunter Valley.  He graduated from the University of Queensland in 2007 with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Equine Science. As part of his degree he completed a horse management course through the EFAQ, and holds a Certificate IV in frontline management. He also completed three years of a Veterinary Science degree at the University of Queensland. While he was studying Vet Science he received an internship through a government funded co-operative research corporation. In 2010 James won the Australian Council of Agricultural Societies Regional Scholarship and was a finalist in the Queensland Farmers Federation Award for Academic Excellence in Agriculture in 1999.  James is continuing his education and is currently studying a Certificate 4 in Veterinary Nursing.

James has over thirty years experience in the equine world. He has worked in thoroughbred breeding and training operations, and handled horses at the yearling and broodmare sales. His real passion is breeding Clydesdales. Growing up his family had a highly successful Clydesdale Stud. He can be found regularly exhibiting his horses at both local and royal shows in breeding classes and working events. James is a current member of the Commonwealth Clydesdale Horse Society and a Life Member of the Royal National Agricultural and Industrial Association of Queensland
