The Team

Born in Finland, Arja completed her veterinarian studies in Tartu, Estonia. She graduated from Estonia University of Life Sciences, EMU in 2013, with a degree of DVM. Arja obtained her limited registration to practice as a veterinarian in Australia in 2019 and completed her AVBC AVE examination in 2021.  Before joining Hawkesbury Equine Veterinary Centre, Arja completed an 18 month internship in equine internal medicine, surgery and sports medicine at the University of Sydney Veterinary Teaching Hospital. She enjoys the diversity of cases including internal medicine, sports medicine, ophthalmology and neonatal care. Arja is currently studying a postgraduate degree in Equine Internal Medicine with the University of Liverpool (UK) and Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) and expected to graduate in 2024. Outside of work, Arja is an active participant in canine obedience training at Macquarie Towns All Breeds Dog Training School with her cheeky Welsh Corgi, Sparky. In their spare time, they often head out to Hawkesbury trail walks and nature reserves.
